Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Program
A four-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Program was conducted for CRI students from 17th to 20th February 2026.The training followed the guidelines of the American Heart Association, providing standardized instruction in CPR and emergency life support. The program covered adult CPR, infant BLS, choking management, and emergency response protocols, with the addition of specialized training in BLS management for pregnant women.
Animal House Visit
Second BDS students visited the Veterinary College and Research Institute and Animal House on 18th February 2026. Students had the opportunity to observe animal care procedures and understand the importance of animal models in scientific and medical research to give them training on maintenance of animals for their research purposes.
International OMFS Day
Oral Health Screening and Awareness Camp was conducted for the general public at the Tiruchengode Agriculture Cooperative Marketing Society campus, Tiruchengode, on 17.02.2026. A total of 57 beneficiaries were screened during the camp. The program primarily focused on promoting awareness regarding the importance of maintaining oral hygiene, emphasizing early diagnosis of oral diseases, and encouraging preventive dental care practices among the public.
International OMFS Day
On the occasion of International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons’ Day, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery organized a CDE program titled “Teeth Dreams” on 14.02.2026. Final-year BDS students, CRRIs, postgraduates, and faculty members from various departments were participated.
The guest speaker, Dr. A. Thangavelu, Professor and Head, Department of OMFS, Government Dental College and Hospital, delivered an insightful lecture on the stages of tooth development from infancy to adulthood, associated anomalies, and common clinical scenarios encountered in dental practice. He discussed their management and emphasized the crucial role of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, particularly highlighting appropriate referral protocols in routine practice.
White Coat Ceremony
The White Coat Ceremony for the BDS 2025–2026 Batch was held on 14th February 2026. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. A. Thangavelu, a renowned Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Central Council Member of the Indian Dental Association, and Head of the Department of OMFS, Government Dental College & Hospital, Cuddalore, ceremoniously presented the white coats to the budding dentist.It was a proud and emotional moment for parents to witness their children step into a noble healthcare career
CPR Training Program
Vivekanandha Dental College for Women conducted a two-day CPR Training Programme on 10th and 11th February 2026 in collaboration with Krishnaa Institute of Skill Development Center. A total of 96 II BDS students received hands-on training in CPR, Basic Life Support, and AED usage. All participants were certified, enhancing their preparedness to handle real-life medical emergencies with confidence health.
Advanced CBCT Workshop
The Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology at Vivekanandha Dental College for Women organized a three-day Advanced CBCT Workshop for CRRI’s from 4th–6th February 2026, offering comprehensive faculty-led sessions and practical hands-on training. This program provides a comprehensive insight into CBCT interpretation and diagnosis, boosting confidence for clinical practice.
Dental camp at SPIRO
Comprehensive Oral Health Screening and Awareness Camp was conducted at SPIRO Prime Public School, Ernapuram on 29th and 30th January 2026. A total of 666 students were screened. The program focused on promoting awareness about the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene, early detection of dental problems, and the significance of preventive dental care.
Personal Hygiene Awareness Program
On National Girl Child Day (28/01/2026), VDCW hosted a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Program titled “Empowering Every Daughter, Building a Stronger Nation.” Dr. Niranjana Devi (MBBS, MS, FAMS) inspired students through her insightful interaction, students gained a deeper understanding of personal health.
Republic Day Celebration
Republic Day was celebrated with pride and patriotic fervour on 26 January 2026 at the institution campus. The national flag was hoisted by Vice Chairman Dr. Krupanidhi, symbolizing unity, constitutional values, and national integrity in the presence of Heads of various Institutions, faculty members , staff and students. The celebrations featured a disciplined and spirited march past by the students, reflecting their commitment, teamwork, and respect for the nation. The event fostered a strong sense of patriotism among students and staff, reinforcing the importance of civic responsibility, unity, and dedication to professional and national service.
Lok Bhavan- Winners
II BDS students Gokila and R. Sneha of VDCW were awarded a cash prize of ₹30,000 in a State-Level Essay Writing Competition conducted in commemoration with the birth anniversary celebration of Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiar. The prize was presented by the Honorable Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru R. N. Ravi, during the “At Home” celebration held at Lok Bhavan, Chennai, on the occasion of Republic Day 2026
Career Guidance Program
A Career Guidance Program was organized by Vivekanandha Dental College for Women for students of Chettinad Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School, Karur on 23 January 2026. The program provided students with an overview of various branches of dentistry, including exposure to dental laboratories and clinical procedures, offering valuable insight in dental sciences. In addition, oral health awareness and screening was conducted, and necessary treatment was provided to the participating students.
World Prosthodontist Day
On World Prosthodontist Day, the Department of Prosthodontics conducted a CDE programme on January 22, 2026 titled “Temporomandibular Disorders – Prosthodontic Perspectives.” The resource person Dr. Sunantha S., Associate Professor, Vinayaka Mission’s Sankaracharyiar Dental College, Salem, gave her insights into TMD management and its impact on patient quality of life.
ADD ON PROGRAM FOR CRI
3D Implant Planning and Surgical Guide Designing Programme was organized for CRRI with Dr. Fayeez Abdullah as the guest speaker on 20.1.26 & 21.1.26. The programme covered digital implant planning principles, software-based treatment planning, and hands-on sessions emphasizing accuracy and safe implant placement. Students gained hands-on experience in digital implant planning and surgical guide designing, enhancing precision and clinical decision-making skills.
Tabitha Solomon Journal Club
The first Journal Club of 2026 was conducted on 20.1.26 with a presentation by Mathumitha, CRRI, on the adjunctive use of omega-3 in periodontitis patients with diabetes. The session emphasized critical appraisal, clinical relevance, and evidence-based practice, with active participation from 192 undergraduate students and Research Committee members. The meeting concluded with remarks by Dr. Ganapathy, Vice Principal.
Pongal Celebration
Pongal was celebrated with great enthusiasm on the 13th January at college campus in the presence of the Director, Principal, faculty, staff, and students. The programme featured traditional Pongal preparation, colourful rangoli, cultural performances, and festive games, fostering unity and joy. The celebration concluded with prize distribution, leaving behind memorable moments of tradition and togetherness.
Final Year Orientation Program
Orientation Programme for IV BDS students was conducted on January 12, 2026, where faculty from eight dental departments briefed students on departmental roles, clinical requirements, syllabus, and examination patterns. The programme emphasized discipline, clinical protocols, and professional responsibilities, and concluded with an inspiring address by the Principal, motivating students to transition from learning to responsible clinical practice.
Advance IT Skill Course
A five-week Advanced IT Course for I MDS students commenced on 5 January 2026. The programme started with an overview of basic computer concepts and essential software applications, familiarizing students with the practical use ofMicrosoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Academic Leadership Development Programme
VDCW Principal, Heads of Departments, and Coordinators participated in the Academic Leadership Training Programme titled “AI for Leaders – Decision-Making in the Age of Intelligence”, held on 9th and 10th January 2026. The programme was led by the resource person, Dr. K. Nandeesh Kumar, CEO, Navigate Labs, Coimbatore.
Dental Screening Camp
Vivekanandha Dental College for Women organized an Oral Health Awareness and Screening Camp at Shri Renga Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School,Rayarapalayam on January 5, 2026.The camp focused on oral hygiene education, preventive care, and screening, benefiting school children and the local community. A total of 113 patients were screened, with 106 referred for further treatment, reinforcing the importance of oral health in overall well-being.
Anti- Ragging workshop
Anti-Ragging committee organized an Anti-Ragging Workshop in Vivekanandha Dental College for Women on January 3, 2026 with Dr. Nidarsh D. Hegde, Member, Dental Council of India, as Chief Guest, along with legal and academic experts, emphasizing the prevention and legal consequences of ragging and reinforcing the college’s commitment to a safe, ragging-free campus.
